de la tradición flamenca, han cosechado desde su formación
impresionantes críticas y seguimiento de público,
convirtiéndose en el grupo más premiado de los últimos
años. Son de la Frontera han sido finalistas en los Grammy
Latinos en 2007 y elegidos por la cadena brtánica BBC como
Mejor Grupo Europeo 2008 de World Music. En Noviembre de 2008, Raúl
Rodriguez, uno de los miembros del grupo decide emprender un nuevo
camino en solitario. Los otros cuatro miembros del grupo, Paco de
Amparo, Pepe Torres, Manuel Flores y Moi de Morón preparan
ahora un nuevo trabajo discográfico acompañados de
otros artistas y colaboradores.

Son de la Frontera (Sound of the Frontier) are innovating the flamenco puro by incorporating Latin American rhytmic and melodic elements and also the Cuban Tres (a small guitar-like instrument with three sets of double metal strings).The story began a when the five musicians met in Morón de la Frontera, a small traditional white Andalusian village, where the traditional Spanish guitar player Diego El Gastor (1908-1973) lived and composed. Raúl Rodriguez (also Antrophologist), Pepe Torres and Paco de Amparo (decendents of Diego El Gastor), toghether with Moi de Morón and Manuel Flores started to study the old tapes of the visionary maestro Gastor. The result was respectfull, subtle, innovating and playfull reinterpretation of his legacy which has already conquered the Spanish media and public.
Besides the main spanish Flamenco and Jazzfestivals, “Son de la Frontera” has already convinced the audience at the Montreal Jazz Festival (2007), Festival de Flamenco de New York (2006), Festival de Flamenco Chicago (2006), Festival de Flamenco of London (2006), Flamenco Biennal in Amsterdam and Utrecht (2006).
In
2009 Raúl Rodriguez decided to leave the band and start a new
project, more news in brief.
Son
de la Frontera will record this year their new project and present it
during 2010.
